New Features of Tally 8.1

Online Help

Tally provides user-friendly context sensitive online help for the user. Hence a first time Tally user can start using tally without any training. It also helps the user to do his own configure as well as use tally better.

Data Security

Tally user data integrity checks that no external change to the data can pass through tally. It also uses a binary encoding format of storage to prevent devious grouping of information.

It also offers excess to the data base through an ODBC layer, which id fully activated

Web Enabled

Tally 8.1 is now Web Enabled. This will help user to reducing paper work, now reports can be E-mailed directly from Tally.

Multi Directory for Company Management

The user can create multiple directories where he can store data. The data stored in these directories can be accessed directly by tally after specifying the path.

Multi Language Support

Tally 8.1 is so technologically advanced that it can operate in all Indian languages concurrently! That means, you maintain accounts in any Indian language view it in another and print it in yet another language of your choice…. at the same time! With Tally 8.1 capture multiple language-specific aliases for all Masters and print Reports, Vouchers and Invoices in the language of your choice. What’s more, Tally 8.1 supports transliteration of data for Indic family of languages.

VAT Composition Returns

VAT Composition Returns provides fast and error-free voucher entry with complete tracking of each transaction.

The Composition Rate of VAT is automatically recognized based on the turnover. It prints VAT Composition Returns for VAT enabled states.

The tax payable is calculated automatically and displays in the Return Form.

Excise for Dealers

Excise for Dealers provides complete tracking of duty credit availed and passed on. It supports printing of excise invoice and generates the required statutory reports.

Installation of Tally 8.1

Simple to Install

It is very easy to install. The user can specify the location of the data directory. It doesn't take more than 60 seconds & required 8 MB space on hard disk to install.

How to Install Tally 8.1 ?

Insert tally installation CD into CD drive

Select my computer on the desktop

Select CD drive

Run Install.exe

After running Install.exe you will get following screen:-Installation wizard

after completing this process it will show you windows showing below:

Now click on next& it will show you license agreement:

Then there are three option it showing you have to click on “I Agree” install Tally 8.1.

Specify path (For program files and data directory) , it will show you default path for every directory but you can change it by click on “Change directory “ option which showing on right side on window, Then click on next to continue installation—

Now you will get a window on which you can change language , select language by click on any language then click on next:

Now it will process for few seconds

After installation a window will displayed a message :"Installed Successfully".

Click on finish & Tally is installed

The Tally icon will create on desktop

Loading Tally for Recording the Accounting Data

By double-clicking on tally icon on the windows desktop, we can load Tally.

This is the area in which you will actually work, & you can activate this area either by clicking any where in this area or by pressing Ctrl+M key combination.
